Volker Hirsch to speak at the Teaching & Learning Conference in Manchester
With TLC a little more than two months away, we are delighted to announce that Volker Hirsch, founder, advisor and angel investor of several technology and edtech ventures, will deliver a keynote on the opening day of the conference, sharing insights about how technology and global meta-trends, such as the exponential rise of data, artificial intelligence and automation,are shaping society and affecting the future of education.
Originally from Germany, Volker has founded and co-founded a total of 7 companies to date, including Blue Beck, a 55-strong mobile software development house. He is also Venture Partner at Emerge Education, Europe’s leading EdTech accelerator, Chairman of Bibblio, the next-gen recommender systems for knowledge content and holds investments in several companies operating in education technology, AI, IoT and big data industries.
Volker has been at the forefront of many industries that were once described as “niche”. For example, he helped launch the world’s first mobile music service (with Britney Spears, Duran Duran and Snoop Dogg amongst others) and published games for mobile phones, including Call of Duty 3, X-Men 3, and the first titles for Rovio, the studio behind the Angry Birds phenomenon.
With over 15 year’s experience of conference speaking, with an impressive combined audience totalling in excess of 100,000, Volker is a seasoned presenter. His credentials include speaking at large conferences including TEDx and SXSW, as well as addressing the Norwegian Minister of Education’s Leadership Summit for the Future of Higher Education.
