The aim of this year’s Academic Adoption Day workshop is to introduce participants to Blackboard Ultra, a New Generation Digital Learning Environment, and to inform and inspire participants regarding the benefits of Ultra unique affordance in Technology Enhanced Learning.
Experiential practice/ hands on activity during the workshop will be underpinned by the principles of Micro Learning.
Prior to attending the workshop on 13th May, participants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with Ultra and the concept of Micro Learning on a dedicated online module. Participants will be contacted in due course.
During the workshop participants will experience an Instructor’s journey through some of the key overarching themes unique to Ultra. They will have the opportunity to either:
i) create and curate accessible content
ii) design multifaceted assessment
iii) weave social networking-based conversations around course content and assignments
iv) understand the principles underpinning accessibility for all and Universal Design for Learning
v) explore data informed teaching, including data insights into student performance
At the end of the workshop participants will:
- Gain a basic understanding of Ultra as Instructors
- Identify the unique benefits of Ultra
- Be able to download and export content created from the workshop
- Be able to make improvements to typical digital documents to make them accessible
- Know where to get help when using Ultra as Instructors.

Academics, Academic Developers, Learning Technologists, Librarians, Graduate Teaching Assistants and Students creating or curating VLE content.
Basic computer skills: Use of Blackboard Learn to upload files/download and run files.
